Product Description
Refractory concrete (thermoconcrete) – ORBET 5
ORBET standard THERMOCRECONCRETES are mixtures of high-alumina refractory raw materials and refractory cement and are very suitable for the production and maintenance of refractory linings of thermal aggregates, as they achieve high strength in a short time.
They are delivered dry and stored in closed areas protected from moisture.
Before wetting, it is recommended to mix dry to homogenize the concrete.
Mixing and wetting of refractory concrete is carried out in a clean mixer or on a suitable concrete base. In doing so, residues from the previous mixing must not be mixed with the new mass. Intensive mixing for 3-4 minutes is sufficient.
Installation of refractory concrete can be carried out by tamping or vibrating. The required addition of water depends on the installation method, and ranges from 7-10%.
For the production of more complex forms, the humidity of the concrete is increased by 2-4%. Adding water in large quantities is not recommended, as cracks may appear in the wall during drying.
The process of hydraulic binding of thermoconcrete is accompanied by the release of heat, so it is necessary to cool the refractory wall with water.
If the refractory concrete rests on a material that easily absorbs water, it must be insulated with plastic foil.
Thermoconcrete is carefully compacted into the installed template, which is made of smooth boards and coated with a protective coating.
The thickness of the layers during installation should not be greater than the length of the vibrating needle, and when working with an external vibrator it should not be greater than 200 mm.
Under normal conditions, refractory concrete sets in 15 – 20 minutes at the latest, and hardens in 24 – 48 hours.
The hardening time is shortened in warm conditions, and extended in cold conditions..
- During the hardening period, which lasts 24 hours, the concrete should be maintained by occasional wetting, if possible.
- Air drying lasts 24 hours, then it is heated to 150 (0C) and kept for 12 hours. The rate of temperature rise from 150 (0C) to 650 (0C) is 15 (0C/h). At 650 (0C), keep the temperature constant for 10 hours, and then heat up to the working temperature at a speed of 50 (0C/h).
- The permitted temperature during installation is +5 to +30 (0C), and if it is lower, add antifreeze additives.
